This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. 2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, date of birth, gender
- Profile Information: Photos, biography, occupation, education, religious preferences (sect, religiosity, prayer frequency, hijab preference), ethnicity, marriage timeline
- Profile Cards: Responses to prompts about your values, family vision, and lifestyle
- Communications: Messages sent through the App, Salaam messages, and support inquiries
- Verification Data: Selfie photos submitted for face verification (processed and not stored permanently)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: Approximate location (latitude/longitude) for matching purposes, with your permission
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
- Usage Data: Interactions with the App, features used, session duration
- Push Notification Tokens: Device tokens for delivering notifications
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display your profile to potential matches based on preferences and location
- Facilitate matching, messaging, and Salaam features
- Process face verification to confirm profile authenticity
- Send push notifications about matches, messages, and Salaams
- Process payments and manage subscriptions through third-party providers
- Monitor for violations of our Terms of Service and community guidelines
- Improve the App's features, performance, and user experience
- Respond to support requests and communicate important updates
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Other Users: Your profile information, photos, and messages are visible to other users as part of the App's core functionality
- Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate the App, including:
- Supabase (database and authentication)
- Cloudflare R2 (photo storage)
- AWS Rekognition (face verification)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging / APNs (push notifications)
- Mixpanel (analytics)
- Sentry (crash reporting)
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of Walima and its users
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (hosted on AWS). Photos are stored on Cloudflare R2. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and row-level security policies. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile data, photos, matches, and messages. Some data may be retained for a limited period to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten)
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
- Withdraw consent at any time

8. Children's Privacy
Walima is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will take steps to delete their account and associated data.

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
