Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Download Walima from the App Store and sign up with your email address or Google account. You will be guided through creating your profile step by step — including your photos, bio, religious preferences, and profile cards.
What information do I need to provide?
To create a profile, you will need to provide your name, date of birth, gender, photos, and some information about your faith and what you are looking for. The more complete your profile, the better your matches will be.
Profile & Verification
How does face verification work?
Walima uses facial recognition technology (powered by AWS Rekognition) to compare a selfie you take with your profile photos. This helps confirm that your photos are really you. Verified profiles receive a checkmark badge.
How do I edit my profile?
Go to the Profile tab, then tap "Edit Profile." You can update your photos, bio, profile cards, and other information at any time.
Matching & Salaams
How does matching work?
Swipe right to like a profile, or left to pass. When two people like each other, it is a match and you can start chatting. You can also send a Super Like to stand out.
What is a Salaam?
A Salaam is a personal intro message you can send to someone before matching. It goes directly to their Likes tab and includes your message, making you stand out from regular likes. Salaams are available to Diamond and Platinum subscribers.
Subscriptions
What plans are available?
- Free: Basic swiping and matching
- Gold: Unlimited likes, rewinds, and boosts
- Diamond: Everything in Gold, plus see who likes you, Salaams, and advanced filters
- Platinum: Everything in Diamond, plus Passport (search any city) and priority visibility
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID or Google Play account. To cancel, go to your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Walima > Cancel. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Safety & Reporting
How do I report a user?
You can report a user from their profile by tapping the "..." menu and selecting "Report." You can also block users to prevent them from seeing your profile or contacting you. All reports are reviewed by our team.
How do I block someone?
Open the user's profile or your conversation with them, tap the "..." menu, and select "Block." Blocked users will not be able to see your profile or contact you.
Account
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile > Settings > Delete Account. This will permanently delete your profile, photos, matches, and messages. This action cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, make sure to cancel it separately through your device settings.
I forgot my password
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password" and enter your email address. You will receive a password reset link. If you signed up with Google, use the Google sign-in option instead.
